Preparing for an InBody

To ensure the most accurate results for your InBody assessment, follow these preparation steps to minimize external variables that can affect bioelectrical impedance.

Leading up to your InBody:

  • Avoid eating 3-4 hours prior to testing.

  • Avoid drinking caffeine leading up to the assessment

  • Exercise: Do not exercise for 6–12 hours before the scan, as muscle pump and sweating can skew lean mass readings.

  • Hydrate well the day before - Maintain normal hydration the day before, but do not drink large amounts of water right before the scan.

  • Temperature Changes: Do not take a hot shower or use a sauna right before the test, as these alter blood flow.

  • Lotions: Avoid using lotion or ointment on your hands or feet, as it can interfere with the electrical current.

Right before the InBody

  • Use the Restroom: Empty your bladder immediately before the scan to avoid inaccuracies caused by urine weight.

  • Stand for 5 Minutes: Stand upright for at least 5 minutes before the test to allow body fluids to distribute evenly.

  • Remove Accessories: Take off all jewelry, watches, belts, and heavy outerwear. Empty your pockets of coins, keys, and phones.

  • Bare Feet: You must be barefoot; remove all shoes, socks, or pantyhose.

  • In the cooler months: warm yourself up for 20 minutes prior to testing.

How to get the most accurate results:

  • Timing: For the best tracking of progress, always test at the same time of day (ideally first thing in the morning) and under similar conditions.

  • Menstruation: Testing during menstruation can skew the results due to the increased water retention
