Body Composition That Goes Deeper Than the Scale
The InBody 580 is a 30-second body composition scan that measures muscle, fat, water, and visceral fat with clinical precision. Available at Ivy Health Clinic in Kelowna for patients and non-patients alike.
RESOURCES
Two People Can Weigh the Same and Be Built Completely Differently
The number on a scale tells you very little about your health. It does not distinguish between muscle and fat, it does not tell you where fat is distributed, and it does not show you whether what you are doing is actually working.
The InBody 580 uses medical-grade bioelectrical impedance technology to break down what your weight is actually made of. That includes total muscle mass and how it is distributed across your body, total body fat and where it sits, visceral fat surrounding your organs, hydration and cellular health markers, and how your composition is changing scan over scan.
For most people, the most useful part of the scan is the trend that emerges over time. A single scan is a starting point. Repeated scans show you whether your training, nutrition, or treatment plan is moving you in the right direction.
Who an InBody Scan Is For
InBody scans can be useful at most stages of life and for most goals. People who tend to find the most value include those starting or continuing a fitness or nutrition program, individuals on GLP-1 medications who want to track muscle preservation alongside weight change, women in perimenopause or menopause monitoring shifts in muscle and body fat, anyone working on metabolic health goals, and people who want clarity about their progress beyond what a scale can show.
If you are unsure whether an InBody scan is appropriate for you, our team can help you decide.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. Anyone in Kelowna can book a standalone InBody 580 scan at Ivy Health Clinic without being an existing patient. Scans are available to the general public.
-
The InBody 580 uses direct segmental multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis, which measures each body segment separately and at multiple frequencies. Unlike a standard scale-based BIA device, it does not estimate body composition based on age, sex, or ethnicity. BIA technology has been studied against DEXA in published validation research and shows strong correlation for tracking changes in muscle mass, fat mass, and body water over time. Test-retest reliability is high under consistent testing conditions. It is not equivalent to DEXA imaging, which remains the gold standard for bone and lean tissue assessment, but it is accurate enough to inform clinical decision-making and repeatable enough to track meaningful change.

Standalone InBody 580 scans and four-scan packages are available to anyone in Kelowna. Current pricing is shown at booking through Ivy Health Clinic’s online booking system.
