What Naturopathic Medicine Looks Like at Ivy
Most people who come to Ivy have been looking for answers for a while, often after being told everything looks normal even though they feel far from it. Naturopathic medicine at Ivy is evidence-informed, and built on listening to our patients' concerns, goals, and values. We want to work alongside your family doctor and specialists, because you get better care when everyone treating you is connected.
Your naturopathic doctor looks at the whole picture of your health and builds a plan around what will move it, using lab testing, nutrition and lifestyle guidance, supplements, IV therapy, and prescriptions where they fit. We only recommend testing or treatment that has a clear purpose. We want you to feel informed and confident in your plan, and sometimes that means talking through why a test or supplement isn't needed.
No two patients are the same. Your care reflects where you are now, what you have already tried, and what matters to you, and it shifts as your life and your health do.
Conditions We Support
Many of our naturopathic doctors have a clinical focus in women's hormonal health, but we treat a wide range of conditions and see men and kids as part of primary care too. A few of the areas we see most often:
Perimenopause & Menopause
Hot flashes, sleep and mood shifts, and weight changes. We look at the full picture and offer hormone therapy when it fits.
Weight Management (including GLP-1)
Stubborn weight and metabolic changes, with support that goes beyond eat less, move more.
Fatigue & Burnout
Chronic tiredness and low energy, where we look for what is behind it, including thyroid and iron.
Menstrual Concerns (PCOS, endometriosis, heavy periods)
Painful, heavy, irregular, or absent periods, with a plan for both symptom relief and long-term reproductive health.
Digestive & Gut Health
Bloating, irregularity, and food reactions, with a plan to rebuild digestion rather than restrict forever.
Vaginal & Pelvic Health
Recurrent infections, discomfort, and pain that often go unaddressed, assessed properly and taken seriously.
Fertility & Pregnancy
Preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum support, working alongside your maternity care team.
Mental Health
Low mood, anxiety, and stress, using lifestyle, supplements, or medication when it is needed.

Common questions
-
Yes. In British Columbia, naturopathic doctors can order lab work and prescribe a range of medications, including hormone therapy and GLP-1 medication where appropriate.
-
We build your care with you, so the plan fits your goals, your values, and your life, and holds up in it. Our doctors recommend a test or treatment when it moves that plan forward, and skip what doesn't. The result is care you understand and stay with, because it was built around you in the first place.
-
MSP does not cover naturopathic visits in BC. Most extended health plans include naturopathic coverage, and we provide a detailed receipt after every visit for you to submit. If you are unsure whether your plan covers ND care, our front desk team can help you confirm before your first appointment.
-
Yes. Our NDs offer virtual visits to patients anywhere in British Columbia.
-
A meet and greet is a short complimentary appointment to help you decide if an ND at Ivy is the right fit before booking a full consult. It is a bookable option on our Jane schedule. If you already know you want to start, you can book a full consult directly.
-
Yes. Our NDs work alongside family physicians, gynecologists, and other specialists. We believe care works best when your providers are connected and communicating. We’re happy to share notes or write letters to your other providers when you want us to. Letters and clinical notes may have an additional documentation fee associated with them, charged separately from your visit. Just let your ND know what you need at the end of your appointment.

A naturopathic doctor (ND) is a regulated primary care provider in British Columbia. NDs complete a four-year post-graduate medical program and are licensed by the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC. At Ivy, our NDs use lab testing, nutrition, lifestyle support, prescription therapies, and hormones where appropriate.
